"The days are coming," declares the Sovereign LORD, "when I will send a famine through the land-- not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the LORD." Amos 8:11

SCRIPTURE
"So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations, from David until the captivity until the captivity in the Babylon are fourteen generations, and from the captivity in Babylon until the Christ are fourteen..."Matthew 1:17

"He shall be like a tree, planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper…For the Lord knows the way of the righteous…" Psalm 1:3, 6

OBSERVATION
The first chapter in Matthew, the writer list the entire genealogy of Jesus. Here we see the people that God has used to bring the messiah into the world. We do not know how or who God will use to bring the good news to the world. We see God use a prostitute (Rahab), a murderer & adulterer(David), an outsider (Ruth), all people society had not accepted--to be part of the story of the Messiah.

In Psalms, the vision of a tree deeply rooted and planted--not washed away by the river but sustained. Deeply planted roots are able to face a storm, change--but the river that sustains (the living waters) is what is really needed. DEEP roots in LIVING waters bring FRUIT.

APPLICATION
Through continual "Feedings" I plant my roots deeper in the living word of God. Roots can be planted and grown in so many places, but one must choose to be planted in the living word. How will I be intentional in having my roots planted so to bear fruit. The feedings

PRAYER
Lord--I am hungry. Help me to continue to feed myself in your word. I know you can use anyone, including me, to build your kingdom. Help me be still and know that you are in control.  Amen
